誇張という強さ

春夏シーズンは、「誇張」というテーマを掲げている。
EDITION#034 SUMMERでは、その誇張されたかたちの中に生まれる“折り”に意識を向けた。
かたちを大きくすること、輪郭を強調すること。
その操作は外に向かう強さのようでいて、同時に内側へと作用していく。
その作用が、自然と折りをつくり出しているのだな、と感じている。
折りの連なりを見つめる中で、発想は折紙へと広がっていった。
一枚の平面にわずかな操作を加えることで、静かに立ち上がる立体。
単純な構造でありながら、そこには確かな秩序と緊張が宿っていると思った。
今季は、その考えを表現の技法としてプリーツに落とし込んでいる。
パターンによる設計、ワイヤーによる輪郭の制御、そしてプリーツの反復。
それぞれが重なり合いながら、かたちに密度と奥行きを与えていく。
誇張されたフォルムの中で際立つのは、大きさそのものではない。
その内側に生まれる細やかな揺れや、連続する折りのリズム。
光を受けたプリーツはわずかに動き、強く主張することなく、静かな存在として残る。
大きく見せることと、静かであること。その相反する関係の中にこそ、かたちはより強く立ち上がる。
誇張とは、形を強めるためのものでなく、内側に作用し、その構造ごと美しさを成立させるためのひとつの強さだなと思う。

For the spring/summer season, the theme is “exaggeration.”In EDITION#034 SUMMER, we focused on the “folds” that emerge within these exaggerated forms.
Enlarging the form, emphasizing the contours.While this process seems to project outward strength, it simultaneously generates pressure inward.I feel that this pressure is what naturally creates the folds.
As I gazed at the sequence of folds, my thoughts naturally turned to origami.A three-dimensional form that quietly emerges from a single flat sheet with just a few simple manipulations.I felt that, despite its simple structure, it possessed a distinct sense of order and tension.
This season, we have translated that concept into pleats as a design technique.Pattern-based design, contour control through wire, and the repetition of pleats.As these elements intertwine, they lend density and depth to the form.
What stands out in these exaggerated forms is not their sheer size.Rather, it is the subtle ripples that emerge within them and the rhythm of their successive folds.When light hits the pleats, they shift ever so slightly, remaining a quiet presence without making a bold statement.
Appearing large and being quiet.It is precisely within this tension between opposites that form emerges most powerfully.
I believe that exaggeration is not merely a means of enhancing form,but rather a form of strength that creates internal tension, thereby establishing beauty through the structure itself.
